It is one of our favourite venues. The front half of the refurbished Oaks by Paul Kelly is richly luxuriant space with tartan carpeting, luxe leather booths, and dark oak furniture. It opened its doors in 1885 and throughout its 120 year history, it has never failed to be a place that Sydney-siders will frequent time and time again. The sports bar, Taffy’s, is named after David “Taffy” Thomas, who bought the iconic lower north shore pub in 1975 and still pulls taps behind The Oaks’s bar.
